The Physics and Astronomy Department at the UK consists of 30 full-time faculty members, along with 5 adjunct or emeritus professors, 8 postdoctoral researchers, 16 administrative and technical staff, 78 graduate students, and 71 undergraduate students. The faculty includes 10 American Physical Society Fellows and multiple teaching award recipients. Both undergraduate and graduate students benefit from small class sizes covering contemporary physics and astronomy subjects, while collaborating directly with faculty on research projects in nuclear/particle physics, condensed matter/atomic physics, and astronomy/astrophysics.
