Nanotechnology explores materials and systems at an incredibly minute scale, roughly one-thousandth the width of a human hair. These microscopic innovations find uses in diverse fields like medical testing, high-tech imaging, adjustable x-ray equipment, fiber-optic networks, and sustainable energy production using light-capturing microbes. ECE scientists specializing in nanotechnology are developing electronic components, detection systems, and carbon nanotube structures with applications across power systems, industrial production, and aerospace technology.
