Graduates from the Master of Historic Preservation (MHP) program work with diverse cultural heritage, from ancient ruins and city districts to countryside settings and architectural landmarks, focusing on their recognition, recording, safeguarding, and ongoing utilization. This multidisciplinary profession demands innovative approaches to connecting history with contemporary and future contexts. It combines expertise from various domains including history, design, anthropology, and engineering to manage places of historical importance. Alumni pursue careers in government agencies, private firms, and non-profit organizations. Additionally, the Department provides a graduate certificate in Historic Preservation, requiring completion of HP 601, HP 602, and two elective preservation courses.

An overall grade point average of 2.75 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work is required by the Graduate School.
