The University of Kentucky's medical anthropology concentration offers structured theoretical and methodological education for graduate students exploring cultural, critical, and biocultural perspectives on health, medicine, and human biology. Scholars specializing in this field examine the cultural, historical, and political-economic factors influencing health and wellness, along with how biomedical knowledge is created and disseminated. Program members are united by their focus on investigating societal factors contributing to health disparities and how individuals and communities navigate or challenge these systemic issues in their daily lives.

Three letters of recommendation The GRE is not required for admission to this program during the 2021-2022 academic year. For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5
An overall grade point average of 2.75 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work is required by the Graduate School.
