The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides graduate programs culminating in either a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering. Our department maintains vigorous research initiatives across multiple disciplines, including power electronics, energy systems, electromechanical systems, computer engineering, automation technologies, electromagnetic fields, photonics, micro/nano-scale electronics, digital signal analysis, telecommunications, and control theory. Students benefit from fully outfitted departmental research facilities, supplemented by additional resources from the Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky.

For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5
An overall grade point average of 2.75 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work is required by the Graduate School.
