The Counseling Psychology Program equips students with mastery in core psychology areas, therapeutic techniques for professional practice, research capabilities to generate and assess psychological knowledge, and ethical standards that foster leadership in psychology. Our program prepares graduates to embrace evolving, multifaceted roles that further social justice initiatives. We aim to cultivate practitioners dedicated to lifelong learning, advancing psychological science, and enhancing mental health across varied communities and ecological contexts (including individuals, families, communities, and broader society).

Most Ph.D. alumni secure positions in mental health settings (such as hospitals, community organizations, or group practices), university counseling services, or government institutions (like VA hospitals or correctional facilities). Some establish private practices, while others enter academic research or teaching roles in higher education.
