Faculty and students at the University of Kentucky's College of Communication and Information actively advance research in health communication. Their work spans diverse areas such as healthcare team interactions, educational interventions, and public health campaigns. The college organizes the Kentucky Conference on Health Communication every two years. Through the Health Communication Research Collaborative, both professors and graduate students gain access to research projects and academic networks supporting health communication studies, teaching, and community initiatives. Over the past 15 years, faculty have secured over $30 million in federal health communication grants. The doctoral program ranks sixth nationally in applied health communication according to the National Communication Association, while the National Research Council's 2010 evaluation placed it among the top seven out of 83 communication doctoral programs nationwide.
