The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Theatre Design provides comprehensive training for aspiring professional designers specializing in scenery, costumes, or lighting for theater and film, while also preparing students for advanced graduate studies. The program emphasizes hands-on learning through intimate studio classes, practical labs, and active participation in University Theatre productions. B.F.A. Theatre Design candidates complete 69 credit hours across Theatre, Visual Art, and Art History disciplines, alongside fulfilling KU Core requirements and elective coursework.
Admission will be granted to students who meet the following standard:
A minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all previous coursework, including transfer coursework.
English Proficiency:
TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition: 79 (18 minimum subscore)
TOEFL paper-delivered test: 60 (18 minimum subscore)
