The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies provides five undergraduate options: two majors, two minors, and a certificate program. Students in all programs take an interdisciplinary introductory course, a research methods class, and various topical and theoretical courses from across the College. Majors complete additional coursework and finish with an independent research project during their senior capstone seminar.
Investigate the wide spectrum of human sexual behaviors and societal prohibitions
Examine scientific, historical, and artistic perspectives on sexual attraction
Develop skills to assess and tackle challenges like sexual violence, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Human Sexuality students examine how society, politics, and medicine shape conceptions of sexuality. They utilize interdisciplinary approaches to explore how cultural frameworks and personal experiences of sexuality intersect with social institutions, political systems, healthcare, and activist movements.
Legal professionals may perform tasks such as:
Interpreting significant public matters and their societal effects
Establishing principles of ethical governance and assessing their role in modern public service
Outlining the development and execution of public policies
Evaluating legal operations within government agencies, judicial systems, non-profit organizations, and the broader justice framework
Studying legal regulations, judicial systems, activist campaigns, psychological perspectives, organizational procedures, and societal frameworks
