The College of Pharmacy provides a Doctor of Philosophy program in pharmacy with three specialized tracks: drug discovery and experimental therapeutics, health services research, and pharmaceutics.
The drug discovery and experimental therapeutics track presents a distinctive learning experience for students pursuing careers in pharmaceutical innovation and therapeutic development. Evolving trends in drug research demand professionals with cross-disciplinary expertise to address the complexities of medicinal chemistry, biological treatments, pharmacogenetics/genomics, and fundamental pharmacology/toxicology.
The health services research track delivers a progressive methodology for examining healthcare system challenges and generating data-driven policy recommendations. It integrates concepts from diverse academic disciplines (including sociology, economics, psychology, business, and anthropology) to analyze healthcare decision-making processes and their outcomes. Participants develop comprehensive understanding of healthcare and pharmaceutical services, grounded in economic and social psychological principles. This track equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical research skills to address contemporary healthcare issues.
