The Ph.D. program aims to train biostatisticians capable of creating methodological approaches to address challenges in public health and biomedical fields. Graduates will gain expertise in applying biostatistical and epidemiological techniques for designing and evaluating research studies in these domains. Furthermore, doctoral candidates will develop the skills to serve as either research collaborators or principal investigators on biomedical and public health projects.
The curriculum mandates proficiency in statistical theory, probability, fundamental and advanced biostatistical concepts, along with epidemiological study design principles. A dissertation representing original research serves as the capstone requirement. Doctoral candidates will produce scholarly work involving either novel methodological development or innovative application of biostatistical approaches to health-related research questions.
