The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling (MHC) serves as a final degree offering a direct route to obtaining professional counseling licensure. This clinically intensive program enables students to implement their learning through hands-on practicum and internship opportunities.
We aim to equip aspiring clinicians to serve individuals, groups, and communities through culturally aware, socially conscious, ethical, thoughtful, and impactful mental health counseling practices.
Participants in both the MHC and MHC Art Therapy tracks will enhance their therapeutic abilities, including intervention techniques, consultation methods, evaluation processes, and diagnostic approaches, through practical training at over 60 partner clinical sites.
If you possess a natural ability to guide others through challenges and seek professional advancement, UIndy's MHC program is designed for those aspiring to become licensed counselors or continue toward doctoral education. The curriculum develops advanced competencies in therapeutic methods, counseling frameworks, evaluation techniques, diagnostic procedures, research methodologies, and serving diverse populations.
