The School of Music provides diverse graduate music programs tailored to student interests. Our Master of Music is a two-year, on-campus program. The Musicology Division delivers extensive resources for exploring ethnomusicology and historical musicology, overseeing M.M., Ph.D., B.A., and B.M. degrees with music history specializations. Our faculty features experts in Western music traditions and global music from regions like the U.S., Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Through collaborations with the Center for World Music and proximity to the renowned Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, students gain exceptional performance and listening opportunities.

Requirements for admission to the Master of Music (MM) programs are a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or an equivalent degree from another accredited institution. TOEFL - 96 IBT , IELTS - 7 must have a score of 6.5 or higher in all sub-sections. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (A=4.0), or comparable GPA for an international applicant, for last two years of undergraduate study is a minimum requirement for admission.
