The Master of Fine Arts in Art and Design program equips talented individuals for exceptional accomplishments in their chosen professional field. Specializations offered encompass Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Photography, Metalwork, Ceramics, and an interdisciplinary Studio track featuring concentrations in Painting, Sculpture, and New Media. To earn the M.F.A. degree, students must complete at least 64 graduate credit hours. All disciplines provide dedicated studio spaces and specialized resources crucial for obtaining a top-tier professional education. Graduation requirements for Graphic Design, Photography, Metalwork, Ceramics, and the interdisciplinary Studio (including Painting, Sculpture, and New Media) involve presenting a creative exhibition, submitting a committee-approved written thesis to the School of Art and Design's graduate office. Industrial Design candidates must additionally present an exhibition, submit an approved thesis to the Graduate College Thesis Office. Admission decisions for all programs are based on faculty evaluation of the applicant's creative portfolio, academic history, professional experience, recommendation letters, and other notable accomplishments indicating potential for success in the program.
