The Bioengineering Graduate Program, housed within the Department of Bioengineering, develops tomorrow's pioneers in academia, industry, and public service. As one of the most forward-thinking graduate initiatives at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's College of Engineering, this program boasts a rich tradition of blending biological and medical sciences with engineering methodologies. Participants collaborate with over 60 faculty members spanning diverse academic fields. The department provides a one-year, non-thesis Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Bioengineering, combining technical expertise with business acumen. This program prepares graduates to tackle intricate, multi-faceted challenges with both specialized knowledge and strategic business insight. Alumni of this interdisciplinary program have embarked on diverse career paths, from industry positions to pursuing advanced degrees in medicine, research, and other specialties. Offered through Illinois' prestigious College of Engineering, the M.Eng. features three specialization tracks: bioinstrumentation (emphasizing medical imaging technologies), computational genomics (focusing on bioinformatics and large-scale genomic data analysis), and a broad bioengineering concentration.
