The M.A. Program in Latin Teaching is a final master's degree tailored for aspiring high school Latin instructors. This program does not prepare students for advanced Classics graduate studies. Those aiming for a Classics Ph.D. should instead apply to the standard Masters Program in Classics.
The Classics Department provides graduate studies culminating in a Master of Arts degree with three specialization choices: Classics (combining Greek and Latin), Greek alone, or Latin alone. The department also grants a Master of Arts in Latin Teaching and a Doctor of Philosophy in Classical Philology. Graduate students in Classics may additionally focus on Medieval Studies as a secondary concentration. The M.A. Program in Latin Teaching serves as a concluding degree for future high school Latin educators and does not provide a pathway to higher Classics graduate work. Students with doctoral ambitions in Classics should consider alternative programs.
