The Master of Arts program delivers an extensive curriculum covering Russian literature, language, and cultural studies. Students complete a foundational core of mandatory classes in advanced language skills, theoretical approaches, and historical studies. Following this, M.A. candidates can select from Slavic department literature courses at both graduate and advanced undergraduate levels, along with relevant offerings from other UIUC departments including Comparative and World Literature, History, English, and the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center. Typically spanning four semesters, the program concludes with a comprehensive written examination for the M.A. degree.
