The Center for African Studies collaborates with The iSchool of Information Sciences to provide a three-year combined MA in African Studies and MS in Library Information Science. This dual master's program incorporates language and regional studies coursework for an interdisciplinary Master of Arts in African Studies alongside specialized training for a Master of Science in Library and Information Science. The integrated curriculum combines regional knowledge with professional development, equipping graduates for information management roles across various institutions, including libraries. Students begin their studies in LIS during their first semester before transitioning to African Studies coursework.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants to the Masters degree in African Studies should hold at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or from a recognized institution of higher education abroad. TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (PBT) -- 213 on the computer-based test (CBT) or 79 on the internet-based test (IBT). A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (A=4.0), or comparable GPA for an international applicant, for last two years of undergraduate study is a minimum requirement for admission.
