The Neuroscience Program (NSP) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign provides an interdisciplinary doctoral curriculum combining academic study with hands-on research. Our adaptable yet challenging program nurtures student development through investigative work, direct faculty mentorship, and opportunities to engage with leading neuroscientists via seminar programs and conference participation. Given the program's wide-ranging scope, students customize their academic path by selecting a primary focus area along with two secondary concentrations from our offerings. An advisory committee composed of faculty from these chosen disciplines collaborates with each student to design tailored coursework and research opportunities. This approach balances academic freedom with structured mentorship. The program complements traditional classes and lab work with regular neuroscience seminar sessions.
