The Department of Materials Science and Engineering provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Materials Science and Engineering. With approximately 200 students and faculty members from diverse scientific and engineering backgrounds, the department fosters a rich academic environment. Research spans numerous specialties, allowing students to focus on specific materials science fields such as ceramics, metals, polymers, electronic materials, biomaterials, and composites. The MatSE Department promotes interdisciplinary studies, frequently collaborating with other engineering disciplines. Qualification Requirements

B.S. or M.S. Degree in Materials Science or related fields. Students applying with a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree without a master's degree and intending to pursue a Ph.D. should apply directly to the Ph.D. program (not to the M.S. program). M.S. degree may be obtained during the Ph.D. program once requirements for M.S. have been met).Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (4.0=A) is required. Successful applicants to our program generally have a much higher grade point average. TOEFL score of 104 (iBT), 257 (CBT), or 613 (PBT), or minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic exam scores of 7.5 overall and 6.0 in all subsections.
