The Department of Computer Science ranks among the world's oldest and most prestigious, maintaining a consistent position in the top five for graduate programs. It provides advanced studies culminating in master's or doctoral degrees, including an interdisciplinary bioinformatics master's program. The curriculum structure offers students adaptability to tailor their studies while meeting Ph.D. requirements and their advisory committee's expectations. During their initial month in the Ph.D. program, students receive three committee members from the Academic Office. These students then coordinate with their Program of Study committee to explore research interests, identify mandatory courses, and create a plan to fulfill both academic objectives and Ph.D. course prerequisites.
