The ESES program provides a distinctive blend of structured guidance and adaptable options, setting it apart from other University of Illinois programs. Our advisors, who also instruct courses within the major, possess deep familiarity with campus life, academic offerings, student support services, and beyond. They're dedicated to helping you navigate degree requirements while choosing courses that cultivate your abilities and intellectual interests. Those planning to pursue graduate studies in any discipline should consult their advisor about additional required coursework early on. Students must submit a completed Major Plan of Study form to the LAS Student Affairs Office by their fifth semester (60-75 credit hours). With advisor approval, study abroad courses can fulfill major or minor requirements. For departmental honors: Students maintaining a 3.3 GPA in major coursework and completing a faculty-supervised research project for major credit will be considered for graduation with distinction.
