The Italian Studies program at the University of Illinois provides an interdisciplinary exploration of Italy within Mediterranean, European, and worldwide frameworks, encompassing language, history, culture, and literature. Our faculty includes professors, lecturers, and graduate students from both the U.S. and Italy who are dedicated to undergraduate teaching, creating a personalized learning environment beyond standard coursework. While optional, studying abroad often becomes a meaningful component of the Italian Studies experience. The major requires completion of ten courses following the foundational language sequence.
