The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering provides graduate programs tailored to meet diverse student goals and professional aspirations in these disciplines. Graduates often secure advanced positions in industry and government organizations, while some pursue further doctoral studies in mechanical or industrial engineering.

Over the past five years, UIC has awarded 371 Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering, 229 in industrial engineering, and 119 in energy engineering.

Qualification Requirements

In addition to the Graduate College minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following program requirements: Baccalaureate Field Mechanical engineering. The degree must be from an American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited college or university or equivalent. Grade Point Average At least 3.00/4.00 for the final 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate study. A grade point average of at least 3.50 is preferred for applicants to the PhD program.

First-year applicants are currently enrolled in high school or have not attended college since graduation.
