The environmental engineering specialization at UIC takes a comprehensive approach, reaching beyond conventional field boundaries.
This program addresses subjects including:
Evaporation processes and land-atmosphere exchanges
Geological considerations in waste management
Pollution and movement of groundwater
Handling of contained and accidental hazardous materials
Surface and subsurface water flow dynamics
Additional environmental and water resource challenges
The curriculum incorporates knowledge from multiple UIC departments, including biology, chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental health sciences, geology, mathematics, and mechanical engineering. Faculty collaboration enables students to investigate diverse aspects of water resources and environmental engineering.

Applicants to the MS programs should have earned a GPA of at least 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 based on the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate study
