Reflecting the field's interdisciplinary character, UIC's MPA faculty bring expertise across numerous domains. Their educational backgrounds and research focus on diverse relevant fields such as legal studies, administration, political science, statistical analysis, survey methodology, social sciences, economic theory, business practices, organizational behavior, personnel management, fiscal planning, and digital systems. The core faculty is enhanced by accomplished adjunct professors who are active leaders in public policy, legal affairs, and administrative practice.

The Urban Governance and Management concentration features coursework in cross-jurisdictional administration, leadership strategies for public institutions, community involvement, and metropolitan policy development.

The Local Government Administration specialization incorporates studies in municipal management, intergovernmental relations, and leverages university-wide urban knowledge through classes covering metropolitan policy, city governance, and regional economic growth strategies.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants are considered on an individual basis. In addition to the Graduate College minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following program requirements-
Baccalaureate Field No restrictions.
Grade Point Average At least 3.00/4.00 for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of undergraduate study.
Tests Required GRE or GMAT scores are required from applicants who are requesting program-administered financial assistance.

New Paper-Based TOEFL (after August 2018) of 60, with subscores of Reading 19, Listening 17, Writing 21, Institutional Testing Paper-Based TOEFL (prior to August 2018) of 550.
