Political Science serves as a cornerstone of liberal arts education, preparing students for diverse careers in government, legal fields, media, business, and education. The UIC Political Science Department enables students to gain hands-on experience through internships, master statistical analysis and research methodologies, and explore practical politics along with various civic engagement opportunities. Undergraduate scholars can specialize in one of two concentrations: Law and Courts or Urban Politics.

Our Chicago location provides an exceptional environment for studying urban governance while fulfilling our responsibility to inform government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and the broader metropolitan population. Accordingly, we provide an Urban Politics concentration that aligns with the coursework required to complete a Political Science BA with this specialization.
