Undergraduate neuroscience education is becoming increasingly important. This foundational training equips students for immediate entry into biotechnology and pharmaceutical careers, which are expanding rapidly. A neuroscience bachelor's degree also lays the groundwork for advanced studies in graduate programs or medical school. The University of Illinois Chicago boasts Illinois' most established undergraduate neuroscience program.
After completing core coursework, students can focus their studies through electives and research projects across four specialization areas: Biological Sciences, Psychology, Chemistry, or Philosophy. This approach ensures every neuroscience graduate develops unique expertise within the field while earning their degree.
First-year applicants are currently enrolled in high school or have not attended college since graduation.
