Political Science stands as a cornerstone of liberal arts education, serving as a strong foundation for professions in government, law, media, business, and education. The UIC Political Science Department enables students to gain hands-on experience through internships, master statistical analysis and research techniques, and explore practical politics along with civic participation. Undergraduate students can specialize in one of two concentrations: Law and Courts or Urban Politics.
Every undergraduate is paired with an academic advisor from the LAS Advising Center, remaining with that advisor's student group throughout their UIC journey—from orientation through graduation. LAS Advising helps with choosing majors/minors and creating academic roadmaps. Beyond the assigned advisor, students can access specialized guidance for Major & Minor selection as well as Pre-Law advising.
First-year applicants are currently enrolled in high school or have not attended college since graduation.
