Horticulture experts build careers around cultivating and nurturing plants, whether maintaining golf course landscapes, supervising botanical gardens, nurseries, and greenhouses, or producing flowers, ornamental shrubs, trees, fruits, and vegetables.
However, horticulture requires more than just plant intuition. This program teaches the scientific foundations of the field, covering subjects such as pruning techniques, grafting methods, soil chemistry, agricultural production, plant pollination, landscape and turf maintenance, and pest management. Students gain practical experience at plant research facilities, automated greenhouses, through actual crop cultivation assignments, and during visits to nurseries, golf courses, and residential landscape projects.
