High-quality soil is the foundation of thriving agriculture and ecosystems. Farmers, industries, and land managers face obstacles such as pollution and soil degradation to preserve soil integrity. Soil specialists play a crucial role in addressing these issues. This curriculum explores soil properties and effective techniques for enhancing soil health. Students will develop skills to utilize biological, chemical, and physical principles to protect and enhance soil and water resources for agriculture, environmental cleanup, construction projects, and other applications. A significant portion of the learning occurs at plant research facilities, greenhouse environments, laboratories, and outdoor sites, where activities may include gathering soil specimens for testing, examining water pollutants, or assessing plant nutrient levels.
