Master of Social Work in Macro Practice [Advanced Standing] in Houston United States | University of Houston

The Advanced Standing program offers face-to-face, hybrid, and online enrollment options. The face-to-face AS program is a full-time, one-year commitment (38 semester credit hours), starting in fall and concluding with coursework and field placements over two semesters. Hybrid and online AS students follow a part-time, two-year track. All advanced standing students must complete two field practicum courses (500 clock hours). Macro Practice equips students for urban social work, focusing on diverse, underserved populations through professional leadership training. Graduates gain skills to drive social change in communities, public/private organizations, empowering individuals and groups. The curriculum develops core competencies for community, organizational, societal, and global engagement, preparing graduates for leadership roles as advocates, managers, policy analysts, researchers, and capacity builders across various settings.
