The expansion of worldwide markets and increasing interconnectedness between countries creates strong demand for legal professionals with expertise in international dimensions across public, private, and business sectors. As a major global hub, Houston offers exceptional international opportunities, which the Law Center's International Law LL.M. program leverages through the city's extensive worldwide networks. Students can specialize in either public or private international law while customizing their LL.M. coursework to align with personal goals and interests. Participants may focus on specific international law specialties or explore diverse course offerings to develop comprehensive knowledge of both public and private international legal frameworks. The Law Center's pioneering Center for U.S. and Mexican Law - the first U.S. institution solely devoted to Mexican legal studies and bilateral relations - exemplifies initiatives that enable LL.M. candidates to develop sophisticated expertise in international and comparative law's domestic applications. The program requires completion of at least 24 credit hours, with 15 dedicated to international law courses, plus an optional 50-page publishable thesis. International law graduates must additionally complete Introduction to American Law and Lawyering Skills & Strategies within their 24-credit curriculum.
