The need for MIS expertise has experienced a remarkable revival in recent years. Projections show exceptional growth, with MIS competencies leading the most in-demand professions of tomorrow. Although MIS career opportunities are predicted to surge rapidly, the required skill combinations have significantly evolved. During the tech boom of the late 1990s alongside internet adoption, application development (coding) was the primary focus in MIS. Subsequently, offshore outsourcing has relocated numerous entry-level programming positions abroad. Yet, there's been a rising demand for more advanced tech roles. Presently, web, communication, and database systems are reaching maturity, finding applications across all business operations. These emerging information technologies are being implemented in innovative and far-reaching methods. Consequently, while the demand for MIS specialists has grown, it differs substantially from previous eras. Today's MIS focuses more on interpersonal abilities than pure technical prowess. Our current MIS curriculum develops business analysts instead of coders.
