A company's key audiences and stakeholders form its publics. Public relations (PR) focuses on cultivating favorable connections with these groups. As a vital brand function, PR entails understanding public sentiment, gauging perceptions about issues or organizations, and assisting clients in developing impactful campaigns that address public needs.
Our innovative courses move beyond conventional classroom learning by enabling students to collaborate directly with clients, target demographics, and key stakeholders like media representatives. PR students engage with diverse clients, including those from the Bauer College of Business Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship. They also acquire practical experience through Valenti Integrated, our student-operated agency that delivers professional services while earning academic credit.
Beyond academics, Valenti School of Communication PR students access Houston's thriving media landscape through numerous internship possibilities. These span prestigious institutions such as the Children's Museum, Houston Zoo, Mayor's Office, Houston Methodist Hospital, Houston Rockets, and multiple PR firms. Students can also assume leadership roles in organizations like the Public Relations Student Society of America, developing relationship-building skills and professional networks across the metropolitan area.
