Our faculty are dedicated to outstanding research, meaningful community engagement, and exceptional instruction. Among our professors are distinguished educators who have earned state, national, and global recognition for their scholarly work and publications. Graduate students have been honored with prestigious awards including the Ford Foundation Fellowship and the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans.
Throughout the academic year, the department hosts visiting authors and scholars for readings and lectures. Students gain hands-on experience by contributing to literary journals, organizing conferences, tutoring undergraduates, serving as mentors, teaching courses, and participating in community internships.
