The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers a Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance Program, reflecting our dedication to interdisciplinary planning education. This approach values insights from social and natural sciences, along with expertise from architecture, public health, social work, and civil engineering fields, while prioritizing active community engagement.
The DMHA certification requires 15 credits plus a 1-credit capstone, delivering an academic pathway to develop expertise in disaster risk mitigation. By integrating relevant courses from various disciplines with specialized training in disaster response and humanitarian aid, we've created a comprehensive graduate program. Graduates with these specialized skills can pursue diverse career paths across government agencies, private organizations, and international institutions at all levels.
