The Graduate Certificate in Asian Studies allows students to acquire and document advanced expertise in Asian studies or a particular Asian region. This certificate program proves particularly beneficial for graduate students in specialized fields (such as PhD or MA candidates in sociology, political science, music, or law) and working professionals across various sectors including business, government, education, law, and public health - all fields where comprehensive, interdisciplinary understanding of Asian cultures is increasingly valued. Participants can customize the certificate to align with their educational and professional objectives.
The Asian Studies Graduate Program provides seven distinct Graduate Certificates available to all qualified graduate students. Certificate candidates must complete five approved courses (totaling 15 credits) and show fundamental proficiency in an Asian language to earn their certification.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible, an applicant must hold or expect to hold prior to matriculation a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree from a recognized non-U.S. institution of higher education.

Official transcripts or academic records must be sent to Graduate Division Student Services directly from the issuing institution(s), or in sealed institutional envelopes if submitted with the application.
