The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program offers intensive training for students seeking specialized education in visual arts or planning to advance their studies or careers in art and design. Specialization options encompass ceramics, drawing, glasswork, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture & extended practices. The curriculum comprises 63 credits, including 12 credits of foundational Studio and Art History courses (Art 113, 116, 175, and 176), Art 302 (Art Theory and Criticism), 21 credits in a chosen media concentration, 12 upper-level Art History credits, and 15 art elective credits. Admission to the BFA program occurs through an annual portfolio review, with students encouraged to apply before their final year/semester. Only accepted candidates may enroll in ART 410 - BFA Capstone Seminar, conducted each spring, where participants create new pieces and help coordinate the yearly BFA showcase. Beyond standard lab fees, students should budget for art materials and exhibition expenses (including promotion, signage, receptions, and documentation).
