An orchestral performance features instruments such as bassoon, cello, clarinet, double bass, euphonium, flute, French horn, harp, oboe, percussion, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, and violin. Guitar, piano, and voice performance degree requirements are detailed separately and excluded here. The Hartt School provides multiple major options under its Master of Music program, with curricula crafted to push students toward peak professional excellence. Typically, applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in music from an NASM-accredited institution or an equivalent foreign school. The Graduate Studies Committee will assess whether applicants meet bachelor's degree equivalency standards. Some candidates might need to undergo specialized testing to evaluate their readiness for Hartt's graduate programs.
