At The Hartt School, violin students benefit from thorough musical education. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, focusing on exceptional artistry and academic understanding. Every curriculum prepares students for professional careers in high-level performance, instruction, or composition. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study beyond a master's degree. Students must maintain full-time status during their first year, taking at least 9 credits each semester. A summer term before the residency year is allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.
