At The Hartt School, saxophone studies provide a dynamic, collaborative setting where students push each other to excel, nurture creative development, and acquire essential skills for thriving in the music industry. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians by focusing on exceptional artistry combined with scholarly understanding. Every curriculum is tailored to equip graduates for top-tier careers in performance, education, or composition. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study beyond a master's degree. Students must maintain full-time status during their first residency year, completing at least 9 credits per semester. A summer term before residency is allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of initial enrollment.
