The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, blending exceptional artistry with academic understanding. Each program track equips students for professional careers in performance, instruction, or composition at the highest level. Typically requiring at least two years beyond a master's degree, the DMA mandates full-time residency during the first year with a minimum 9-credit course load per semester. Students may begin with one summer session before residency. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements

Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.

Repertoire list: Required for all auditioning applicants
Preliminary Video and Portfolio Submission
Three letters of recommendation
