At Hartt, flute students engage in an intensive program that pushes and inspires them as performers. To enhance teaching abilities, the Hartt flute studio implements a mentorship approach, connecting undergraduate students with graduate flutists. They collaborate for at least two hours weekly, practicing duets, addressing challenges from Techniques Class, and conducting research while receiving peer feedback. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, blending top-tier artistry with academic depth. Each curriculum prepares candidates for elite careers in performance, education, or composition. Typically, completing the DMA requires at least two years beyond a master's degree. The initial year involves full-time residency, with a minimum course load of 9 credits per semester. A summer session before residency is allowed. All DMA programs must be finished within seven years of enrollment.
