At The Hartt School, double bass students benefit from thorough musical education. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, focusing on exceptional artistry and academic understanding. Every curriculum prepares students for professional careers in high-level performance, instruction, or composition. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study after earning a master's degree. The initial year must be completed as a full-time resident student, taking at least 9 credits each semester. Students may begin with one summer session before their residency. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.
