At The Hartt School, cello students benefit from thorough musical education. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, focusing on exceptional artistry and academic understanding. Every curriculum prepares students for professional careers in top-tier performance, instruction, or creative work. Typically, finishing the DMA requires at least two years after obtaining a master's degree. Students must maintain full-time status during their first residency year, taking at least 9 credits each semester. A summer term before residency is allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.
