Pursuing flute studies at Hartt immerses you in an intensive curriculum crafted to push and inspire you as a musician. To enhance teaching abilities, the Hartt flute studio implements a mentorship program connecting undergraduate students with graduate-level flutists. These pairs collaborate for at least two weekly hours, practicing duets, addressing challenges from Techniques Class, and conducting research with peer feedback. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded artists, blending top-tier performance skills with academic depth. Each track prepares graduates for elite careers in performance, education, or composition. Typically requiring two years beyond a master's degree, the DMA mandates full-time residency during the first year (minimum 9 credits per semester), with one pre-residency summer session allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.
