This program provides the foundation for Connecticut teacher certification, specializing in either birth to age 5/kindergarten or preschool through third grade. Designed for aspiring educators, our Early Childhood Education curriculum trains professionals to work in school environments (including as licensed public school teachers) with children ranging from infancy to kindergarten or preschool through third grade. The coursework explores foundational theories along with the physical, cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and creative growth of young learners.

Through our Early Childhood program, you'll gain comprehensive professional training featuring classroom observations, hands-on fieldwork, and two full semesters of student teaching in local schools. A distinctive aspect of our program emphasizes holistic child development, incorporating family support systems and interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants complete initial placements with pre-K or kindergarten students, followed by additional experiences in either infant-to-preschool settings or first through third grade classrooms, tailored to individual interests.
