The Music Education Division at Hartt provides one of the country's most extensive music education programs. Blending intensive conservatory training with fundamental music education principles, this curriculum equips students for careers teaching music in elementary and secondary schools. Beyond general music instruction, majors study choral techniques, wind and string instrument pedagogy, along with specialized methods including Kod√°ly, Suzuki, and Orff approaches. Undergraduate students follow a four-year program focused on either instrumental or vocal performance, while those interested in jazz (saxophone, trumpet, or trombone) can opt for a dual degree in Music Education and Jazz Studies (a five-year program).
