Hartt's music theatre program combines thorough actor development with intensive vocal and dance training. Students receive weekly private voice coaching plus courses in aural skills and music theory to build a solid musical base. Progressive ballet, jazz, and tap classes cultivate the dance abilities needed for professional careers. Hartt offers abundant performance chances, introducing students to diverse musicals and plays from theater history. The curriculum progresses from sophomore showcases to fully staged professional productions, ensuring each class gains demanding stage experience. Seniors participate in a three-week January residency at Goodspeed Musicals for their Festival of New Musicals. Students can audition for Hartford Stage Company's A Christmas Carol and other Equity shows. Numerous participants enter the Equity Membership Candidate Program while studying at Hartt.
